I like to refer to a strategic plan as a compass , able to guide all activities to determine future success.

But organizations often find themselves struggling for execution , as this HBR study reveals, in which 400 CEOs call it the number one challenge.

We think, for example, that most leaders find themselves faced with communication barriers: they do not know who to ask for updates on a specific initiative, or there are too many people to refer to.

Juggling this type of situation transforms the implementation of the strategy into an obstacle course, which must necessarily be overcome if you want to achieve the objectives.

After this obligatory premise, let’s move on to the focus of this study.

If we want to accelerate the execution process and move from from being an organization that acts reactively to one that does it proactively, it is necessary for strategic leaders to adopt a system, a tool, which allows to keep a constant control of accountability in terms of deadlines of activities, chain of proliferation of sub-responsibilities, allocation of resources and results (costs/benefits), so that the activities are completed.

By choosing a software that can steer responsibilities, prioritize initiatives, manage communications between different levels and thus foster collaboration, we can ensure a transparent flow and make it tangible for everyone .

In addition, a tool that covers the needs and integration of features to support them, provides a great way to keep an eye on projects that are going off track, and the workloads of each team member, so as to be sure that the activities are evenly distributed and that it does not all fall on one person.

We also think about the possibilities that would open up if we had individual reporting of tasks and assignments. In this way we could monitor how often each provides the updates, and as a result of what reaches or departs from the achievement of the objectives set, thus making visible and tangible the strategy and its execution.

Making the execution of the strategy visible, translates into trust among all stakeholders.

But not only that. The visibility and the subsequent sharing, offer a more important advantage. By adopting a transparency-oriented corporate culture that lays the foundations on communication, the impediments that usually hinder the implementation of the strategy can be quickly identified and resolved collectively and in the best way for the organization.

When everyone knows the direction and where are the activities, everyone can contribute to bring the plan to success.
